Opened in 1873, Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni is a prestigious 5-star deluxe hotel on Lake Como. Chosen by sovereigns, politicians such as Winston Churchill and J.F. Kennedy and, more recently, by people belonging to the international jet-set, this ultra-luxury resort, located on a luxuriant headland, offers a stunning view on the Lake and was awarded the 2019 Best Italian Resort prize by Travel and Leisure.
Ancient Persian carpets, Murano glass chandeliers, interiors designed in Empire, Neoclassical and Art Nouveau styles: each detail of the villa is steeped in history and delights its guests.
The Mistral – awarded one Michelin Star – and La Goletta restaurants both needed to renovate their outdoor areas in order to create sheltered spaces and increase the outdoor seats.
KE dealer Formigari Tende from Luino (Varese, Italy) – first contacted for a consultation on the project – was then entrusted by the owners with the task of finding the fittest solutions to shelter the outdoor areas of Mistral and La Goletta restaurants and for the area next to the Imperial Hall, used for breakfasts. The terrace needed to be sheltered through an elegant solar shading system with light lines – ensuring at the same time a minimum aesthetic impact, in harmony with the hotel’s Art Nouveau style.
The project’s most challenging effort was to offer practical shadings and, at the same time, to maintain the harmony with the surrounding Italian-style gardens. This is why KE dealer suggested three models of pergola awnings belonging to KE’s Gennius range – sharing an essential style, resistant materials and attention to details. Just like the XTESA pergola awning, equipped with a unique electronic tensioning system – an exclusive patent by KE – which avoids unpleasant wrinkles and ensures a little aesthetic impact. A Gennius A3 pergola awning was chosen to create a sheltered area – thanks to its system with Vertika side closings featuring a Cristal transparent cloth, which lets customers enjoy the panorama even when the structure is closed.
Versatile shading systems with a sophisticated aesthetic: the world of KE’s Gennius pergolas offers a great number of customised solutions, perfect for the Ho.Re.Ca world’s needs – and, in cases like this one, for the most prestigious hotels and resorts such as Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni in Bellagio.
